Schedule Preventive Care First<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our number-one tip is to schedule your pet\u2019s preventive care visit right away\u2014and make sure your calendar is clear for the appointment. Take this time to also set reminders for:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Vaccines or boosters to keep your pet\u2019s immune system strong<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Parasite prevention refills (aka flea, tick, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shilohsvet.com\/blog\/is-heartworm-disease-in-dogs-really-that-dangerous-sadly-yes\/\">heartworm<\/a> preventives)\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dental cleanings\u2014your pet should be getting a full cleaning every year!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Ask your veterinarian which bloodwork or screenings your pet should get based on her age and breed.
